FEP Resin-816

ONLINE INQUIRY
Catalog Number ACMA00045149
Description FEP Resin-816 is a copolymer of tetrafluoroethylene and hexafluoropropylene. It has good thermal stability, outstanding chemical inertness, excellent electrical insulation and low friction coefficient. It can be processed by thermoplastic processing method. PFSA-816 is a kind of resins with low molecular weight and high melt index. Its extrusion temperature is low and the extrusion speed is 5-8 times of that of ordinary FEP, and it is soft and has good toughness.
Appearance Translucent particle
Application It is especially suitable for high-speed extrusion of small-caliber wire insulation materials. It is more ecnomical when used in the applications where no high stress cracking resistance is required.
Storage 1. Transported as non-dangerous cargo.
2. Stored in a clean, dry and ventilated place, impurities like dust and moisture should be kept way.

Custom Q&A

What is FEP resin?

FEP resin is a copolymer of hexafluoropropylene and tetrafluoroethylene that is melt-processable using conventional injection molding and screw extrusion techniques.

How does FEP differ from PTFE resin?

FEP is more easily formable than PTFE and can be melt-processed, while PTFE is not melt-processable.

What are the similarities between FEP and PTFE?

Both FEP and PTFE have low friction and non-reactivity properties.

What is the melting point of FEP resin?

The melting point of FEP resin is 260 °C (500 °F).

What are some properties of FEP compared to other fluoropolymers?

FEP has a lower melting point than PFA and PTFE, a higher coefficient of dynamic friction, and a slightly lower tensile strength.

How does FEP compare to PTFE in terms of corrosion resistance?

FEP is the only other readily available fluoropolymer that can match PTFE's resistance to caustic agents.

How does FEP compare to PFA in terms of dielectric strength and dissipation factor?

FEP has a higher dielectric strength than PFA but has a higher dissipation factor than PFA.

What are some applications of FEP resin?

FEP resin is mainly used for wiring, such as hookup wire and coaxial cable, as well as in manufacturing high-quality composite parts and for lining containment vessels and tanks in the chemical-processing industry.

How can FEP film be used in the aerospace industry?

FEP film can be used as a release film to prevent bonding of curing adhesive polymers during the curing process of composite parts.

How is FEP used in UV cured resin 3D printing?

FEP is used as a film on the bottom of the resin reservoir to allow ultraviolet light to penetrate into the resin and to facilitate the removal of hardened resin from the build plate.
