Application

1. Anti-dripping Agent
Anti-dripping agent PTFE-200D is pure PTFE, which is mainly used in flame retardant engineering plastics to achieve anti-dripping performance. It can be added to PC, ABS, PC/ABS, PBT, and HIPS.
2. Modification Of Engineering Plastics
PTFE micropowder is used in the modification of engineering plastics, such as PA, PPS, PC, POM, PI, PET, PSF and other resins, which can significantly improve the wear resistance and lubricity of engineering plastics.
3. Rubber Elastomer
PTFE micropowder is used in rubber elastomers, which can significantly improve mold release, friction, wear and lubricity. Fluorine additives can be mixed into the elastomer using traditional methods, adding up to 30-50% of the mass of the elastomer.
4. Grease
Adding PTFE micropowder to lubricating oil and grease can not only enhance lubricity, but also can be added to high-performance grease as a thickener to reduce wear and friction coefficient.
5. Dry Lubricant

Application of Micronized PTFE Powder in Grease Industry

Thanks to its excellent sliding and load-bearing properties, micronized PTFE powder is an excellent additive for many applications, including as an extreme pressure (EP) additive in grease applications. This work investigates the tribological behavior of micronized PTFE and MoS2 in different greases and evaluates the synergistic effect of PTFE with zinc dialkyldithiophosphate (ZDDP) or sulfur phosphorous (SP) additives.
Sample Preparation and Experimental Results
· The starting material utilized was lithium complex grease. Micronized PTFE powder, MoS2, ZDDP, and SP (sulfur-phosphorous) were incorporated as extreme pressure (EP) additives in lithium complex grease at specified concentrations.
· PTFE greases were assessed for properties such as oil leakage tendency and water wash out characteristics, which remained within acceptable limits.
· The tribological testing indicates that PTFE outperforms MoS2, ZDDP, and SP additives.
· The inclusion of PTFE in grease enhances the load wear index compared to MoS2.
· PTFE exhibits a synergetic effect with SP & ZDDP in improving the load wear index and reducing wear under applied loads.
· A 4% PTFE content in Lithium complex grease led to a 19.53% improvement in anti-wear properties and a 250% increase in weld load capacity.
· Incorporating 2% SP additive in 4% PTFE Lithium complex grease resulted in a 21.72% enhancement in anti-wear properties and a 400% increase in weld load capacity.
· The load carrying ability of 2% SP additive in 4% PTFE Lithium complex grease improved by 188%.

Micronized PTFE Powder Reinforced Silicone Rubber Composites

This work uses micronized polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) powder mixed with silicone rubber (MQ), and evaluates the mechanical properties of the obtained MQ/PTFE composites. Only 5 wt% of micronized PTFE powder forms a continuous fiber network during the compounding process. This network structure effectively reinforces the MQ/PTFE composite, but also leads to excessive brittleness of the composite. Further addition of fluorosilicone rubber (FMQ) acts as a compatibilizer, which can effectively improve the tensile and tear properties of the composite.
Compounding of MQ/PTFE composites
· A mixture of 95 g of silicone compound and 5 g of PTFE was initially combined using a two-roll mill at room temperature for 10 minutes. Following this, 3 g of peroxide curing agent [dicumyl peroxide (DCP) for compression molding composites, 2,4-dichlorobenzoyl peroxide (DCBP) for extruding composites] was gradually introduced to the mixture on the flux roll.
· The resulting compound band was further processed by sheeting, folding, and rebanding for mixing. This process was repeated 30 times to guarantee complete and uniform mixing.
· Subsequently, the prepared MQ/PTFE composites were respectively molded or extruded to prepare different samples for various mechanical property tests, including breakdown voltage measurement, tensile and tear resistance tests.
