In this work, a 1.0 mm thick FEP U-tube was used to construct a U-tube triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) for harvesting water wave energy. The effects of 11 liquid properties on the output performance of TENG were studied, and the results showed that the pure water-based U-tube TENG had the best output effect. In addition, the optimized sandwich water-FEP U-tube TENG was used to harvest water wave energy, showing high output.
Fabrication of U-tube TENG
· A U-tube TENG was constructed using a 1.0 mm-thick FEP tube with various inner diameters (4, 6, 8, and 10 mm) known for its high polarity and transparency.
· Two conducting Cu tapes, each 88.5 μm thick, were attached to the FEP tube with a tunable length L (2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 cm) and a gap length Lgap (2, 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12 cm) between them.
· The FEP U tube was partially filled with different liquids (1-hexane, 2-ether, 3-chlorobenzene, 4-isopropanol, 5-acetone, 6-ethanol, 7-N,N-dimethylformamide, 8-acetonitrile, 9-ethylene glycol, 10-DMSO, and 11-water) to a tunable volume Vliquid (1-9 mL), positioning the liquid level in the center of the two Cu tapes.
· Leads were then welded onto the Cu electrodes to complete the U-tube TENG.
